Strange Followings

We can read as many books as we want but still we lack in knowing the culture and tradition of tribals. They have some strange and unsual culture. They follow it quite proudly. Africa is filled with fascinating secrets.

Four strange and interesting facts:

• Virginity Test:
  

Locally known as UMHALANGA. Virginity test is the popular in South Africa. We can usually find performing it in ZULU tribes of the KHWAZULA province. The tester opens girl's Vagina with both his hands apparently to check her hymen is intact. If so, a virginity certificate is provided.

• Wife Stealing:

This is an annual ritual practise by WODAABE tribes. A sub group of Fulani ethnic tribe. Women are allowed to have as many husbands she wish. They are allowed to pick their preffered men from a group who do speculation hoping dance to get selected.Women can have sex with any men she pleases before settling on a right one.

• Potency test:

This practise is carried on by BANYANKOLE tribe in UGANDA. It is practise similar to the virginity test, however, this done by the groom before marriage. If required, aunt of the girl can stay and watch the bride performing a check of potency, by actually have sex with him. The bride and groom are only allowed to consummate their marriage if he passes the test.

• Sexual Cleansing:

This popular custom is practised by MALAWI, ZAMBIA tribes. Kusasa Fambi , this involves women having unprotected sex with a man called HYENA. This person could be a professional male sex worker, a selected future husband. A widow's brother-in-law or someone paid by the woman's family. It is carried out on three seperate occasions:

1. When the girl attends her first menstrual cycle.
2. When a married women loses her husband or after an abortion.
3. It is believed that this tradition helps women to become good wives.
