Aashadi Ekadashi
The state of Maharashtra is celebrating Aashadi Ekadashi today. Though we are stuck for 103 days of lockdown, today people of Maharashtra still feels the same devotion and spiritual enlightment. People from many places walk barefoot and reach the land of Vitthal (incarnation of Vishnu) which is Pandharpur. Pandharpur is known to be the land of devotees. Pandharpur was once upon a time a land of wealthy farmers and joyous people. They were ruled under a great and blessed king Mandata. When all was well happening in the kingdom famine stuck straight for 3 years. Many people lost their lives, their families,their houses,their lands. This was the downfall of the kingdom and healthy wealthy people. They worshipped lord Vitthal. Another story that says,in ancient times, war took place between Deities and Demons.
